There were over 100 $100M+ equity financings to VC-backed companies in the first half of this year. Q2’15 saw 61 such financings in Asia, Europe, and North America, with Asia seeing explosive growth over the past three quarters and reaching a high of 25 mega-rounds.
Overall, Q2’15 mega-rounds raised over $16B in aggregate. The two largest rounds reached or surpassed the $1B mark. AirBnB raised $1.5B in growth equity, while Coupang received a $1B Series E, both at multibillion dollar valuations
