Using CB Insights data, we compiled a decade-long list of firms that have invested in the most unique companies ever year.
While there are many repeat names between years such as New Enterprise Associates which has consistently remained in the number one or number two spot with the exception of 2013, the activity league tables also help to highlight some of the changes that have occurred in venture.
- 500 Startups which took the top spot in 2013 is joined by other relative new kids on the block including Google Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz.
- Intel Capital was a frequent contender for the top spot in earlier years but in the last few year, it has fallen out of the top 5 rankings driven primarily by the growth in seed VC deals which the firm participates in but not at the same pace as some of its investment peers.
- Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Polaris Partners which appeared in the rankings in the early years have since fallen off as well.
