Let me guess…you are a fan of the veteran competition series Survivor or you are at least familiar with it. But did you know there is an interesting correlation between Survivor and the cloud-based production management platform eTribez ? “My partner and I started a company for an HR system, which was not related at all to TV,” noted Eli Abayan , CEO and co-founder of eTribez. “When we were running that business, a friend of mine who was the producer of Survivor in Israel wanted to use it for casting. Once they did, about 50,000 people applied through our system at the time, which significantly sped up their casting process.”
“That’s how we came up with the name; like the tribes of Survivor and the island,” he explained. “Then we got approached by Big Brother, Masterchef and The Bachelor, and other shows in Israel. So, we initially developed a casting system from scratch devoted to TV productions with media files and it quickly took off globally.”
From the Beginning
At the company’s inception in 2012, eTribez was an immediate solution to casting for major international TV producers across the globe. The list of clients included production entities such as Fremantle Media, ITV Studios, Endemol Shine Group, Fox, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures Television, the BBC, NBC and TV Globo. By 2019, over 300 non-scripted TV programs were utilizing eTribez’s casting management software (including American Idol, America’s Got Talent, The Voice, The Amazing Race Australia, Wheel of Fortune UK, American Ninja Warrior and the aforementioned Survivor and Big Brother in many countries). Alexa Keane, a former producer on American Idol and America’s Got Talent, among other non-scripted series, initially worked hand-in-hand with eTribez to streamline their casting processes. Then she joined the eTribez team to help the company expand beyond its focus on just the casting of the business. “Together with the eTribez team, I led the change from the relatively analog way America’s Got Talent handled open call and video auditions to an online system that increased efficiency for both staff and show applicants alike,” noted Keane. “I got to see the immense difference that the eTribez casting platform made back then and when eTribez’ production management platform began to take shape, and I wanted to be a part of it on a larger scale.”
Keane, who now oversees customer success for the company in North America, works to help eTribez clients who are implementing the software into their daily routines. “I’m lucky enough to have spent time learning how to make television from some of the best in the business, and I now take that experience with me every day at eTribez.” she said. “I want to help productions streamline their information and processes to make productions run smoothly and safely.”
In 2022, Talent Systems , which makes software for casting and auditioning, acquired the eTribez casting platform. But this was only the beginning for eTribez. “We started to expand from casting in 2018 and were about to launch a new system in 2020, but the pandemic hit,” explained Abayan. “So, we took a pause and went back to continue developing the system, adding many more capabilities. In 2021, we started selling it and expanding with the production management platform globally and it was well received by media companies almost immediately.”

LOS ANGELES and TEL AVIV—Israeli-based eTribez Labs has launched "eTribez Production Management," an end-to-end cloud-based production management platform. Producers of original content for the entertainment, broadcast, promo and ad industries can use the platform to unify and synchronize every aspect of the production process with one centralized solution. Accessible from any device, the platform consists of complementary modules that communicate with each other, said eTribez Labs. Designed for studio-level use, the platform is secure and ISO 27001 (information security standard) and SOC 2 (Service Organization Control 2) certified as well as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliant. Six modules will make up eTribez Production Management. The first one launched, Production Planning, enables a general timeline to be built, creates a day-to-day planning calendar and sets up a detailed shooting plan, breakdown, stripboard, call sheets, daily reports and time tracking, said eTribez Labs. The five remaining modules, including Production Finance, Staffing & Crew Management, Scripted Casting & Cast Management, Resource Management and Scheduling, will be launched throughout the year, the company said. Concurrent with the launch of the platform, the company announced it was expanding its U.S. presence. The company has named Ted Bookstaver as vice president, Client Relations, North America.
