The lending space has been buzzing as of late with small business lending company OnDeck Capital announcing a $150M IPO, and P2P lending platform Lending Club reportedly exploring a sale as an alternative to its impending IPO. While both exits could mean large windfalls for investors, there are a host of other lending companies who will be keenly watching the fate of these two firms.
Below we’ve highlighted 10 US VC-backed lending companies which you should watch. The list ranges from more established players with lots to lose like AvantCredit, Kabbage and Prosper, who have raised over $1B cumulatively, to more early-stage companies like the Sequoia-backed Zazma.
The performance of OnDeck and Lending Club over the next 6 months will be telling for these lending companies, as well as for startups that have risen to service this space, such as Orchard Platform, ZestFinance, and Lendio. We’ve also noticed a dramatic increase in international lending companies. Stay tuned for more on this in the near future.
