Forbes and CB Insights to Identify America’s Most Promising Companies
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Forbes announces that it will be ranking U.S.-based, high-growth, privately held companies for its editorial feature, “America’s Most Promising Companies (AMPC)” to be published in late 2011. Related editorial content is available within the Entrepreneurs channel, on Forbes.com at:www.forbes.com/promising. The leading sponsor of AMPC is iMeet®, a new product from PGi that gives users their own personal meeting room online.
Forbes has teamed up with CB Insights, a data company that identifies and tracks high-growth, privately held companies, to identify America’s Most Promising Companies. Using CB Insight’s Mosaic software, Forbes is able to evaluate company-specific measures (such as employee turnover and customer sentiment) and industry factors (like growth rates and merger activity), combining them to create a ranking that accurately reflects a company’s health.
“We are excited about taking a more comprehensive approach to finding innovative companies that will create significant wealth and propel the U.S. economy,” says Brett Nelson, Forbes’ Executive Editor.
Businesses with top ratings will receive:
- Official Forbes accreditation
- Company profile page on Forbes.com
- Chance for a spot on Forbes’ upcoming list of America’s Most Promising Companies
“We’re looking forward to using Beacon and its underlying technology offer a complete, data-driven view into private companies,” added Anand Sanwal, CEO of CB Insights.
Forbes will collect submissions using two surveys. Companies may nominate themselves or be nominated by outside professionals. The first survey is available at http://forbes.cbinsights.com/ampc-intro-survey.php. Forbes will recognize the most prolific AMPC scouts– those who recommended the most AMPC candidates–on Forbes.com.
Forbes previously published its rankings of America’s Most Promising Companies in September 2009 featuring twenty companies. Thirteen of the twenty have raised a combined $92 million in fresh capital, including equity, debt and grants. One completed a reverse merger to go public and had a recent $52 million market capitalization. Another sold to a strategic buyer.
“People still introduce us as an ‘America’s Most Promising Companies’ company,” says Jeff Ready, founder of Scale Computing, No. 16 on the 2009 AMPC list, which has raised $26 million in fresh capital since appearing on the list.
