I’m so mad, I might just tweet
Hi there,
Last week, I mentioned German cockroaches and their increasing resistance to insecticides. And I sarcastically advised readers not to visit Germany.
Afterwards, I received a bunch of emails saying that my comment was racist against Germans. (Let’s put aside the fact that Germans are not a race.)
And last week, I also posted a tongue-in-cheek tweet from Ted Mann of the WSJ in this newsletter about not using drinking straws.
Again, a bunch of folks wrote in saying that straws are essential for some groups of people, and that the tweet was offensive.
Yup — folks are crazy woke.
With 587,000 on our newsletter, it’s been very interesting to see the growth over time of the perpetually outraged. Every single newsletter offends someone, and even the smallest things trigger folks.
Guess that’s the world we live in?
