Earlier this month, Chinese company Canaan, known for its bitcoin mining chips, raised $43M to diversify and enter into the AI chip market.
The AI chip market of course is currently dominated by NVIDIA. Initially targeted at the gaming industry, NVIDIA quickly capitalized on the potential of its graphic processing units (GPUs) in training AI algorithms.
But NVIDIA’s market domination is now being challenged both by publicly traded rivals and private companies.
