From authentication tech to cold chain packaging, we look at the companies offering connected packaging and labeling tech to improve transparency, sustainability, and freshness across the supply chain.
Across the retail and logistics sectors, companies are realizing the growing importance of connected packaging and smart labels.
From authentication QR codes to carbon labels, smart labels give companies a new way to connect directly with consumers, while also improving sellers’ credentials in terms of sustainability, transparency, and more.
For example, consumers value the ability to easily confirm the legitimacy of recommerced luxury items. Recommerce boutique LePrix partnered with authentication tech startup Entrupy to use its AI-driven software to confirm product authenticity — driving sales through higher consumer confidence.
Currently, early adopters of these packaging technologies are considered ahead of the pack. Only 16% of participants have incorporated connected packaging into their business, according to a recent Accenture survey — revealing an opportunity for companies to use smart labeling and packaging to stand out from the competition.
