So they surveyed the customers to find out what they’re doing. Turns out they’re using the cars for a little bit of personal space. Some respondents said they rented the car for a place to nap or use as a quiet spot to work. One guy said, “I rented a car to eat a boxed meal that I bought at a convenience store because I couldn’t find anywhere else to have lunch.” The cars can be rented for half an hour for around 400 yen, or about $3.68. A small price to pay for a bit of privacy.
