Rechargeable batteries have found their way into every industry, from medical devices to electric vehicles to laptops. Scientists are constantly improving their cost, efficiency, and safety.
As batteries improve, corporates are showing interest in these innovations and acquiring them to improve their products and services.
For example, French oil and gas company Total acquired Ionic Materials in Q2’18. The company has also raised funding from Alliance Ventures, the strategic VC fund of Renault, Nissan, and Mitsubishi. Ionic Materials has created a solid polymer to replace the flammable liquid polymer in conventional lithium-ion batteries, making the batteries safer.
