In today’s industry hot or not, we’ll look at the largest M&A and financing deals of May for clues on which sectors still have momentum.
Last month, there were 722 M&A deals and 2625 financings.
But first, we’ve added some more great names to the CB Insights Technology Conference (June 16-18), including:
- Fred Wilson, founder of Union Square Ventures. Fred’s in the VC hall of fame as an early investor in a crazy number of massive exits, including Stripe, Twilio, MongoDB, Twitter, Zynga, and Indeed.
- Daphne Koller, founder of Insitro, which raised $143M last week from A16Z, Blackstone, and T. Rowe. Insitro is creating a new type of pharma company built on machine learning. Koller is also the co-founder of Coursera.
- Vlad Tenev, co-founder and co-CEO of Robinhood (May ‘20 financing at $8.3B valuation).
- Xiaodi Hou, founder and CTO of TuSimple, which is building self-driving trucks ($1B valuation).
