Mega-financings to NY-based tech companies are becoming more common as this list of 2014's biggest financings illustrates.
New York tech mega-financings have seen a major uptick this year and so we wanted to dig into the largest financings of the year to-date. Interesting things to note:
- Oscar Health Insurance appears twice, raising a total of $150M in under a year. Quick hit financings are on the rise as we previously noted.
- First Round Capital made the most appearances on the list, taking part in 8 of the largest deals (all of which they were early-stage investors in). Thrive Capital and Accel Partners followed closely after, taking part in 6 of the mega deals.
- Jet.com has raised a $75M Series A despite still being in stealth mode.
- As we’d previously noted, NY companies are raising more than their Massachusetts counterparts (but lagging on exits).
- Note: Vice Media raised $500 million this year but the table below only includes their investment from Technology Crossover Ventures. The other $250M of investment was not included since it came from a corporate minority buyout by A&E Networks.
