Microsoft's acquisition of conversational AI company Nuance could help bolster the tech giant's position in the health cloud market.
Earlier this week, Microsoft announced its blockbuster acquisition of conversational AI company Nuance for $19.7B — making it the tech giant’s second largest acquisition after LinkedIn ($26.2B, 2016).
The move follows an earlier partnership with the company to leverage its ambient clinical intelligence (ACI) solution and aligns with Microsoft’s increased focus on healthcare, most notably evidenced by the launch of Microsoft Cloud For Healthcare in 2020.
With Microsoft at the forefront, Big Tech vendors are racing to partner in order to build vertical offerings that cater to enterprise healthcare organizations, especially as the pandemic has radicalized the way healthcare is delivered.
