From established sectors like health and auto to emerging industries like drone insurance, we mapped out more than 60 insurance distribution startups looking to build new digital brands in the US.
Since 2012, insurance-focused technology startups have raised over $7.1B across more than 600 deals. Emboldened by new datasets, a lack of engagement by today’s buyers, and the rise of smartphones, many of these companies within the US are taking aim at building next-generation insurance brands, targeting existing and emerging risks in lines including health, life, auto, homeowners, and more.
Using CB Insights data, we mapped out 60+ US-based companies selling insurance digitally as a lead-generator, brokerage, managing general agent, and/or carrier. All startups on the map have raised $1M or more in investor funding.
Note: Some startups on the list — such as PolicyGenius, Quilt, Cover, and others — sell insurance across multiple lines on map, but were mapped to their primary business line. This market map is not meant to be exhaustive of companies in the space. Please click to enlarge.
