Insurance tech startup hiring spree

As insurance tech excitement and financing heats up, a number of startups in the space are planning full roll-outs for 2016.

We highlight eight insurance tech startups planning to launch in 2016, from stealthier startups in life and disability to those looking at micro-duration coverage.

New faces

In the past week, our news alerts tracked senior hiring moves at insurance tech companies Lemonade, Oscar, Censio, and Insureon.

Most interesting was the variety of hires including from major carriers like AIG, ACE (now Chubb), and The Hartford as well as more high-profile appointments like Oscar’s hiring of former NYC schools chief Joel Klein.

2015 saw insurance tech startups globally raise $2.65B in funding. More importantly, deal activity grew 45% last year as the final three months of 2015 saw an average of over 10 insurance tech deals per quarter. See the latest insurance tech financing data.
