These gaming startups are transforming how games are created, gaming data is collected, and content is shared.
There’s big money in gaming: the games market is expected to reach nearly $152B in revenue this year, and over $180B in 2021.
Most of this growth will be driven by a growing interest in mobile gaming around the world. In 2019, mobile gaming will account for 54% of total gaming revenue, and by 2021, that figure is expected to reach 59% — or more than $100B.
Using CB Insights data, we identified 75+ private companies in the gaming industry across 11 major operational categories, from broadcasting & streaming to analytics & training. Unsurprisingly, mobile game development is the largest category on our map.
Our map includes private, active companies that have raised disclosed equity funding since 2017 and have $10M+ in total equity funding. We define gaming broadly to include game developers, streaming services, gaming teams, marketplaces, and hardware.
This market map is not meant to be exhaustive of companies in the space. Categories are not mutually exclusive.
