We take a look at the social media giant's strategic vision to list acquisition targets that could fall into Facebook's crosshairs in the near future.
Facebook is no stranger to betting big on strategic M&A. Since 2007, the company has made 79 acquisitions, including 8 last year and 7 in 2015. So far the social media giant has made two acquisitions in 2017, with the purchase of Source3, which offers an enterprise licensing and rights management platform for the distribution of 3D content in Q3’17, and in July, Facebook bought Ozlo, an AI startup that will contribute to building a personal assistant in Facebook’s Messenger app.
Since 2012, Facebook has acquired three startups for $1B or more: photo sharing app Instagram for $1B in Q3’12, messaging company WhatsApp for $16B – $22B in Q1’14, and most recently, VR gaming developer Oculus VR for $2B in Q3’14.
