From last-mile logistics to organ shortages, companies are positioning themselves to take advantage of the impact auto tech will have on healthcare.
While auto and healthcare might seem like totally different industries, advances in autonomous driving are going to have an impact on healthcare.
Below are few ways we expect the two to intersect.
Mobility To And From Hospitals
For patients, getting to the hospital falls into two categories: Emergency Transport and Non-Emergency Transport. Developments in auto tech will change both of these options.
In emergency transport, companies are applying on-demand business models to the EMT space. Several companies like MUrgency, StanPlus, and Flare are doing this in emerging markets. Ambulnz is also doing this in the US, offering tech-outfitted EMT vehicles and “per job” flexibility to EMT drivers as opposed to shift work.
