Looking for love? We rounded up 50+ dating apps — from group dating to astrological matchmaking — to ensure this Valentine's Day, love is just a swipe away.
The dating space is feeling the love.
Last year, dating services ballooned into a $3B industry, according to IBISWorld. Some 50 million Americans have tried dating apps or websites, and 19% of 2017 brides said they met their spouses online, according to wedding-focused media company The Knot.
Dating apps are targeting every niche.
Hater pairs users up based on their mutual dislikes. SingldOut curates DNA-based matches. CuddleUp (the self-advertised “Lyft for spooning”) helps users find and rank nearby cuddling partners.
In honor of Valentine’s Day, we rounded up 51 dating apps and organized them by categories including gamification, religious associations, matchmaking, music interests, and more.
See the full category breakdown below. Our market market includes both private and public companies, as well as subsidiaries. We categorized apps by primary use case.

category breakdown
General — This category includes popular apps like Bumble, Plenty of Fish (acquired by Match in 2015), and Tinder, which averages 1.6B swipes per day. Hinge helps users connect with friends-of-friends, while HowAboutWe focuses on curating experiences for couples.
Music — Apps here match users based on their music tastes. Matchbox and Tuneup are both backed by FbStart, Facebook’s global startup program to help developers build their apps.
Matchmaking — Apps in this category focus on marriage and matchmaking services. Shaadi (operated by People Group) is an India-based online wedding and matrimonial service, while IBJ offers online and offline “marriage-hunting” services in Japan.
Group — Rather than facilitating one-on-one dates, apps in this category help users go on group dates. Wishdates lets users form dating groups that can meet up with other groups, while Double allows users to go on double dates with their friends.
Gamification — Several dating apps incorporate games into their interfaces, including Yogrt, which uses games and quizzes to break the ice between potential dates, and DatePlay, which matches users by getting them to play games to find out about each other. UK-based Jigtalk covers users’ pictures with “jigsaw pieces” that can be removed one at a time as users exchange messages.
Religious — Apps here help users find dates based on religious orientation. Ishqr and Y Combinator-backed Muzmatch offer dating platforms for Muslim users, while JSwipe and Yenta are Jewish mobile dating apps.
Astrological — Brazil-based joinder.me connects users based on astrological information, while Zotality relies on Jyotish (Indian astrology) to “facilitate karmic connections.”
LGBT — Dating apps geared toward LGBT users. Blued, a China-base mobile dating app for gay men, is the most well-funded app on our market map, with $132M in total disclosed funding from investors including CDH Investments, The Beijing News, and China Mobile Games & Entertainment.
Cheating — Ashley Madison (of the infamous July 2015 data breach) advertises a social platform to help married people cheat. On the flip side, Qoqoriqo helps users in relationships find out whether their significant other is cheating on them, then puts people dating the same person in contact.
