2015 was a high-water mark for real estate tech startups, which raised $1.7B in funding. The industry is maturing quickly, with a flurry of deals this year. In Q1’16, we’ve seen several early-stage companies advance into mid-stage funding rounds. For example, in February 2016 RealtyShares and NoBroker raised Series B rounds of $20M and $10M, respectively.
We used the CB Insights Mosaic algorithm, which provides predictive analytics on the health of private companies, to assess early-stage startups in the space (Series A or seed/angel companies). The list of companies below have raised financing in 2015 or 2016 year-to-date, have less than $17M in total funding, and show other positive metrics, including jobs data or recent news mentions, among other signals parsed by Mosaic.
Among the high-momentum startups on our list is mobile rental marketplace RadPad which has raised more than $16M in funding to date, making it the most well-funded company on our list. Property asset management platform Rentlytics, along with Nestpick (a platform for students and young people to find rentals), round out our top 3 on the list, which ranks the startups by total disclosed funding.
