3About Wharton Venture Initiation Program
Wharton VIP is an educational program managed by Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs which assists University of Pennsylvania students as they guide their business concept from idea to implementation. Under the program's guidance, students develop their ventures through the real-world experience of executing the initial stages of their ventures. While in VIP students become part of an entrepreneurial community that provides office space and administrative tools as well as a support system of fellow VIP members and professional advising. The program also offers grants and awards to assist student entrepreneurs including the following: The Snider Seed Award provides up to $2,500 in seed capital per venture to assist University of Pennsylvania students who are VIP Phase II members in the execution of the initial stages of their business plans. Students are automatically eligible for Snider Seed Awards upon acceptance into Phase II of the program. Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs takes no equity in the student companies. The awards are given as grant assistance. The Wharton Venture Award (WVA) is given to select entrepreneurial Wharton students to support them financially over the summer in lieu of a full-time internship, so that they can concentrate on developing their ventures. Students are not required to be members of VIP to apply. However, members of VIP are strongly encouraged to consider applying.
