Trevor Koverko Was Arrested on Assault Charges Last Year. What’s Happened Since?

Aug 11, 2022

By Spencer Hulse Spencer Hulse has been verified by Muck Rack's editorial team Published on August 11, 2022 Trevor Koverko overcame a lot to get to the top, only to completely fall off the radar after charges of assault came to light. But what exactly happened, and where has he been since? Trevor Koverko started as a professional hockey player, a draft pick of the NHL’s New York Rangers. However, his promising career came to a screeching halt when a fully-loaded 18-wheel truck smashed into the side of his car in 2011. The result was a “catastrophic” brain injury and paralysis on the left side of his body. What came next was a difficult journey to recovery. Trevor learned how to walk again and became self-sufficient, overcoming the odds to not only regain his life but graduate from the Richard Ivey School of Business. From there, everything seemed on the up. Trevor moved to China and began his life as a tech entrepreneur, establishing companies that included Polymath, First Carbon, and Tokens.com. He also acted as an angel investor and mentor for other founders and those who survived brain injuries. Then came the assault charges. On March 14th, 2021, Toronto police arrested Trevor, charging him with “sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age” (Section 151 of Canada’s Criminal Code) and “sexual assault” (C.C. 271), reported CoinDesk . The other founder of Polymath, and its interim CEO at the time, Chris Housser, addressed the issue. He said that Trevor resigned on February 8th, 2021, and held no position at the company, so the allegations had nothing to do with Polymath. During that time, it was reported that Trevor deleted his Twitter, though it has since been reactivated. While there are no tweets or replies past March 13th, 2021, there have been likes on various posts. Additionally, there is minor activity on LinkedIn, which is also the addition of a few likes in recent months. Although he has not actively returned to social media, he was said to have attended the Futurist Conference in Toronto this year, which was held from August 9th to the 10th. Perhaps it marks his return or plans for the future. While he appears to still be laying low, reputations are repairable, and he has proven his resilience and ability to overcome adversity many times before. Tags
