Terrapin Partners makes two types of investments:1) In existing companies where they act in a traditional role as an outside venture capital / private equity investor and 2) In start-up companies that they co-found where they are active as high level advisors providing guidance and temporary management. Terrapin invests in Technology, Healthcare, including services and devices (but excluding biotechnology), Basic Industry and Services, Energy, Retail, Food and Hospitality, Media (but not original content) and Real Estate. Terrapin looks to invest in U.S. based entities, though in rare cases, will invest abroad. They are flexible with regards to the size of deal and will consider most investment structures, though they prefer equity investments. Terrapin's target ownership level spans from control level equity stakes to small investments with no board seats.

APPrise Mobile , a NY-based mobile communications platform, raised over $1m in seed funding. Backers included TMT Investments, principals of Terrapin Partners and several angel investors. The company intends to use the funds to continue the development of its software technology and accelerate its sales and marketing initiatives. Created in 2012 by Jeff Corbin, CEO, APPrise Mobile About APPrise Mobile provides a mobile platform that allows organizations in the communications industry (corporate communications, public relations and investor relations) to have its own proprietary branded app on the public app stores or as part of a mobile device management (MDM) or enterprise solution. The proprietary software allows companies to organize and distribute information as well as to communicate with targeted audiences (e.g. employees/investors) without the costs and expenses associated with native app development. The APPrise Mobile family of communications products currently include: – theEMPLOYEEapp®, for secure internal communications and employee engagement; – theIRapp®, for investor communications; theCOMMSapp™, for external communications; and – theCONFERENCEapp™, for event and conference communications.
