Jun 6, 2014, 7:09am PDT Updated: Jun 6, 2014, 7:13am PDT Synapse Capital buys San Francisco building for micro hotel Email New York real estate developer Synapse Capital bought a building in San Francisco's Mid-Market area with plans to convert it into micro hotel. The Chronicle reports Synapse bought the Mid-Market Grant Building at 1095 Market St. and will work with London's Yotel, which operates hotels offering tiny rooms, to turn the property into a 200-room hotel. Yotel has specialized in small, high-efficiency rooms, averaging as little as 170 square feet, in cities from London to New York. The Grant Building, built in 1904, was bought by developer Simon Johnson in 2008, but development at the site was stalled by the recession. The new purchase comes as the Bay Area hotel boom nears its limit amid a lack of new inventory and a compressed market. Related links:
