UKHotViews The barrier to entry to the recruitment market has always been low. In olden days, all you needed was a phone and a Rolodex (remember those?). Nowadays you just need a laptop and a website. And if you’re London based fintech recruitment startup. Storm2, you barely need a website as they advertise all their positions on LinkedIn. Launched in August 2019 by former British Sailing Team coach and short-term MD of UK-based multibrand recruiter Phaidon International, James Brown, Storm2 has raised a further $3m in a Series A funding round led by London-based family office Puffin Point Investments. Puffin had originally invested £1m in Storm2 at launch. Storm2 modestly styles itself as ‘The leaders in global fintech recruitment’ and is ‘active in four countries across Europe and North America’, yet I could only find 30 open positions on its LinkedIn page. Brown has some 40 mouths to feed, which seems a rather high staff-to-vacancies ratio. Just as recruitment has a low barrier to entry, so it has a low barrier to exit.
