22 Apr 2022 A £115m takeover bid to buy Sheffield United has reportedly been accepted. According to BBC Sport, US businessman Henry Mauriss has been accepted by the club's Saudi Arabian owner Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Mauriss was previously behind an unsuccessful £350m bid for Newcastle United. The deal is said to be for 100 per cent of Sheffield United Football Club. Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud took full control of Sheffield United in 2019 following the end of a court case against Kevin McCabe. United reported a pre-tax profit of £10.3m in recently filed accounts for the 11 months to 30 June 2021, with turnover of £115m. The Blades currently sit sixth in the Championship, occupying the final playoff position. TAGS
