After a period of uncertainty, the Indonesian music streaming service has come back to life with the launch of a new service SHARE Twitter Facebook Google+ Linkedin Whatsapp Indonesia’s web-only music streaming service Ohdio today announced that it has received funding from Pranala Group , a group that owns several digital and tech companies. Along with this, the company has also announced the launch of a new site, called LaguGalau (means GloomySong), which will focus on streaming sad love songs — a rather huge niche in Indonesian pop music scene. The firm is also planning to launch new business lines, including a B2B music technology segment, a DailySocial report quoted Ohdio CEO Ario Tamat as saying. “We are very delighted to be part of Pranala Group family. There are many things to learn and do together. May this continue to bring Ohdio from strength to strength,” Tamat said. The service enables users to choose playlists from a wide range of categories, such as “songs to celebrate Independence Day with”, “classic ’80s hits”, “very rock song”, “barbeque songs”, and even “songs to accompany you on National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas)”. In 2013, Co-founder Yoga Nandiwardhana had left Ohdio to pursue a career at XL Axiata. When he left, the company was facing huge challenges in getting users on its web platform, as Indonesia is basically a mobile-first market. The company then went back to the stealth mode, before announcing the funding today. Ohdio will be competing with Langit Musik, MelOn Indonesia, and Guvera in this segment.
