New York-area startups and venture capitalists are making funding deals with the hopes of creating the next profitable company. Here's one deal announced Wednesday : Who gets: Axial , a search and matching service connecting middle-market CEOs with capital market professionals (M&A advisers, lenders and buyers). Who invests: Edison Partners led the financing round, along with existing major investors Comcast Ventures, First Round and Redpoint Ventures What the CEO says:"Our true north is to dramatically transform how private companies access capital for growth or exit purposes," said Axial founder and CEO, Peter Lehrman in a prepared statement . "To do this, we must renovate the opaque, inefficient, and fragmented private capital markets, reconfiguring them to be in clear service to the CEO entrepreneur. This round of financing enables us to continue making big investments that will move the private capital markets towards that ideal state. " Company details: More than 11,000 firms currently use Axial to connect to M&A professionals. Over 6,000 of its users are CEOs looking to sell their business. According to the Manhattan-based company, over 650 deals get completed every year. This amounts to about $1 billion in transaction volume annually. Anthony Noto is a multimedia journalist focused on venture capital and Silicon Alley startups.
