By Staff Reporter on 28 March, 2019 US computer technology corporation Oracle has partnered with the Government of Ghana to support 500 tech startups and entrepreneurs through the Ghana-Oracle Digital Enterprise Programme. The initiative will see Oracle — through its Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem — provide access to Oracle Cloud technology, mentoring, workshops, as well as business support. The Ghana-Oracle Digital Enterprise Programme will kick off next month In a statement yesterday (27 March), Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem vice president Jason Williamson (pictured above) said Oracle’s collaboration with the Ghanaian government and with the country’s President Nana Akufo-Addo would help to provide “immediate impact” and support for hundreds of innovators across the country. He added that Oracle is looking to expand its commitment to more entrepreneurs and startups in Africa. Akufo-Addo — commenting in the same statement — said the country is aiming to increase the application of science, technology and innovation in the development of the Ghana’s economy, society and the country. Akufo-Addo said this is a priority for the government. The Ghana-Oracle Digital Enterprise Programme will kick off with an event hosted by Oracle and the Government of Ghana early next month.
