Latest Operator Partners News

Veovo recently announced a partnership with the Swedish airport operator Swedavia that operates 10 Swedish airports for introducing new environmental emission incentives for airlines operating at its largest airports, Stockholm Arlanda and Göteborg Landvetter. This partnership marks a step forward in Swedavia’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable aviation practices. Air travel is one of the largest contributors to carbon emissions, and the aviation industry is facing increasing pressure from the Swedish government and environmental organizations to reduce its carbon footprint. Veovo Revenue Management Software To address this issue, Veovo Revenue Management software introduced an innovative solution i.e. an automated emission charge calculation. This software helps airlines to accurately calculate and track their carbon emissions, and encourages them to reduce their carbon footprint. Veovo’s Revenue Management software will reinforce the operator’s strategic focus on sustainability by automatically calculating charges by using industry emission data sets and Swedavia’s innovative environmental charging approach. Veovo’s software also automatically calculates and tracks carbon emissions in real-time. This allows the airline to have a complete and accurate understanding of their carbon footprint, which is critical in reducing emissions. The software also provides airlines with the tools and insights they need to make informed decisions about their emissions. For example, airlines can see which flights are the most emissions-intensive, and they can then take action to reduce emissions on these flights. This could involve making operational changes, such as reducing flight altitudes, using more fuel-efficient aircraft, or changing flight paths. This enables Swedavia to incentivise airlines to switch to more efficient aircraft and accelerate the transition to more sustainable aviation. Increased Sustainability and Carbon Neutrality Swedavia recently introduced the CO2 and NOx Emission Charges following a Swedish government requirement that airport charges should be differentiated for environmental purposes. The charge adjustments incentivise the use of more efficient aircraft by penalising those with higher emissions while rewarding cleaner aircraft with an overall airport revenue-neutral effect. The intelligent automation and flexibility of Veovo’s Revenue Management software allowed Swedavia to rapidly introduce these emission charges while providing full confidence in the accuracy of the billing process. Calculations are kept transparent to the airlines through easy-to-understand invoices. This partnership between Swedavia and Veovo leverages Veovo’s innovative passenger flow management solutions to incentivize airlines to adopt more environmentally friendly operating practices. According to Lena Wennberg, Chief Sustainable Development Officer at Swedavia, by the end of 2020, the airline had become completely fossil-free in airport operations & Fossil-free renewable HVO-diesel was being fuelled at Swedavia airports. Airlines that reduce their carbon emissions will be rewarded with reduced landing fees, making it more cost-effective for them to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. This will benefit the environment and enhance the competitiveness of Swedavia’s airports, making them an attractive choice for airlines looking to reduce their carbon footprint.
