Naver on track to build digital twin platform in Saudi Arabia 2023.12.08 11:15:02 | 2023.12.08 11:15:27 Receiver [Courtesy of Naver] South Korea’s platform giant Naver Corp. is seeing the results of its efforts to boost its share in the advanced information and communications technology sector, including artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, in the Middle East. Naver Cloud Corp. announced Thursday that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with iot squared, an Internet of Things (IoT) and smart city solutions provider in Saudi Arabia, on Sunday to collaborate on digital transformation. It is the first MoU since Naver won the contract for the Saudi Digital Twin platform construction project in October 2023. Here, digital twin refers to a virtual model of the real world. Saudi Arabia’s iot squared is a joint venture formed by STC Group, a leading force in the country’s digital transformation, and the Saudi Public Investment Fund. With the first MoU now inked, the two parties plan to collaborate on cutting-edge ICT projects including IoT, digital twin, and robotics, and promote digital transformation at the national level in Saudi Arabia. The digital twin platform established by Naver will be used specifically for urban planning, monitoring, and simulation. The two parties will also join efforts in various aspects for the construction of smart cities based on robotics and autonomous driving technology, and plan to explore new applications for the platform in Saudi Arabia. “As the digital twin to be built in Saudi Arabia is expected to be an open platform that will create synergy effects with partners, we will continuously expand cooperation with leading partners such as iot squared,” Chae Seon-ju, president of ESG and external policy at Naver, said.
