Kamcord to continue growing in Asia with US$15M led by GungHo

To date, the company has raised US$25 million in funding. Today, the company has a headcount of 22. Aditya Rathnam, Co-founder, Kamcord, told e27 that he intends to triple the team over the next one year. Hiring efforts will be spread across departments – engineering, product management, design, business, operations and recruitment. Co-founders of Kamcord: (L-R) Kevin Wang, Matt Zitzmann, Aditya Rathnam Commenting on Asia, he said, “For a mobile gaming company, it’s pretty hard to ignore users.” Kamcord sees one-third of its users come from Asia, with most of them being based in China, South Korea and Japan; another one-third from North America; and the remaining one-third hailing from the rest of the world. Currently, the platform sees 1.3 million unique content creators every month. To date, more than 25 million videos have been shared. The company most recently opened an office in Japan , where it will continue to hire for business development in the region. These plans will be accelerated with support from GungHo and Tencent, two of Asia’s biggest game publishers in terms of revenue. Some of the games integrated with Kamcord include My Talking Tom, gumi’s Brave Frontier and The Sandbox. Three big game publishers are now investors in Kamcord Going forward, Kamcord will continue to explore the possibility of integrating with top-games published by GungHo, Tencent and Wargaming.
