(MCM), a family office that specializes in direct private equity investments, is pleased to announce the appointments of Alan L. Rivera to President and John W. Powers to Senior Vice President effective January 1, 2016. Mr. Rivera previously held the position of General Counsel & Chief Financial Officer at MCM since 1996. Mr. Rivera serves as an officer and board member of all the MCM portfolio companies, including serving as Vice Chairman of Wastebuilt Environmental Solutions, LLC. Mr. Rivera is a member representative of the Advisory Board of Wicks Capital Partners IV, L.P., a $414mm fund formed to make privately negotiated control investments in the information, education and media industries. From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Rivera served as Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration and as General Counsel of the NYC Economic Development Corporation. From 1990 to 1994, he was a Corporate Attorney with Townley & Updike, and from 1987 to 1990, a Public Finance Attorney with Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon. Mr. Rivera served as Vice President, Secretary and Board Member of Key Components, LLC, a manufacturer of electrical and mechanical engineered equipment components, from 1997 to 2004 and CFO and General Counsel of MMI Investments, L.P. from 1996 to 2012. He is a former board member of Asta Funding, Inc. ( NASDAQ : ASFI ), the NYC Industrial Development Agency, NYC Health & Hospitals Corporation and Cancer Care, Inc. Mr. Rivera earned his BS in Business Administration from Boston University and his JD from Georgetown University. MCM also announced the promotion of John W. Powers to Senior Vice President. Mr. Powers has been with MCM since 2005 and is focused on sourcing, structuring, and providing operational oversight for the firm's direct private equity investments. Mr. Powers serves as a Board Member of Wastebuilt Environmental Solutions, LLC, an MCM portfolio company. Prior to joining MCM, Mr. Powers served as an Associate in the Turnaround Advisory Group of Alvarez & Marsal where he worked on financial restructuring and operational turnaround assignments from 2002 to 2004. From 2000 to 2002, Mr. Powers was an investment banking analyst in the M&A Advisory and Financial Sponsors Groups of SoundView.
