Standing out by blending in: Visualead raises $1.6M

Sep 23, 2013

&nbspAvi Schneider Sep 23, 2013 Photo Credit: Screenshot, PR Visualead , the israeli startup specializing in design embedded Visual QR code technology announced the raising of $1.6M in series A funding from Kaedan Capital Group and Entree Capital. The round brings the total capital raised by Visualead to $2.35M. Looks aren’t everything, but they help a lot Visualead has done what few would have thought possible. They made the QR code aesthetically pleasing. Using a patent-pending Visual QR code generator, Visualeed allows brands to embed a QR code into any graphic or image, giving the function only tool some form to go with it. Why is this important? Because consumers simply weren’t buying into the whole QR code thing. Typically they’re very very ‘black & white’ and indiscriminate one from the other, leaving most users unaware of their presence even as it’s staring them in the face. Considering the amount that advertisers spend on Banner ad design, simply to get a user to click on something, it doesn’t come as much surprise that the same users aren’t rushing to break out the cell phones, align their cameras and scan some random black and white rashak looking square. Visualead has given brands and businesses a tool to make the QR code part of the creative, involving the user’s attention in the functioning element of the ad. If numbers are an indication of success, then Visulead has some telling information. Since its founding in 2012 the company has over 200K brands and businesses using their platform generating over 30K campaigns every month. “Our objective is to make QR codes more visually appealing to customers and valuable for brands.” says co-founder and CEO Nevo Alva. “With our patent-pending technology, QR codes become integrated, story-telling tags that can be placed anywhere on an advertisement so customers know what they are getting when they scan. We combine the visual images people love with the familiar QR code technology they know.” Visualead was founded in January of 2012 by Nevo Alva, Uriel Peled and Itama Friedman. In 2012 they won top growth-stage startup at the GMIC in Beijing China. Video: Visualead
