BriteCo , a Chicago, IL-based direct-to-consumer jewelry and watch insurance company, raised $9M in Series A funding. The round was led by Brand Foundry Ventures, with participation from Western Technology Investment and Hyde Park Angels, , as well as angel investors Caribou Honig and Jay Weintraub. Brand Foundry Ventures General Partner, Brian Spaly is joining BriteCo’s board of directors. The company intends to use the funds to grow operations and expand its business reach. Led by CEO Dustin Lemick, BriteCo is an insurance technology company creating jewelry and watch insurance for consumers with an online application, and have items covered in minutes, via a subscription-like monthly payment option. The jewelry insurance online platform enables customers to receive a custom insurance quote in a few minutes and soon after a cover for theft, loss, damage, and mysterious disappearance. The company works with the support of its strategic partner and investor, Hannover Re. FinSMEs
