By PYMNTS | December 6, 2023 | Car IQ and Fluid Truck have joined forces to transform the way fleet drivers pay for services on the go. This collaboration will bring together Car IQ’s payment solution and Fluid Truck’s truck sharing technology, the companies said in a Wednesday (Dec. 6) press release . By integrating Car IQ Pay into the Fluid Truck driver app, fleet drivers can now seamlessly pay for fuel within the app, eliminating the need for a fleet card program, according to the release. “The world is increasingly moving towards digital payments, and this partnership will further Fluid and Car IQ’s shared goals of bringing even more flexibility and ease for drivers,” James Eberhard , CEO and founder at Fluid Truck, said in the release. This integration will reduce operational costs and maximize the utilization of fleet vehicles, according to the press release. This collaboration aims to provide a unified payment solution, streamlining communication and data sharing while eliminating the complexities associated with fleet spending, the release said. Car IQ utilizes real-time vehicle data to enable fleet drivers to unlock and pay for various services, including fuel, tolling and parking, per the release. “Working with Fluid Truck is a big deal for us. For the first time, we are extending our payment innovation into the On-Demand Rental business,” Sterling Pratz , CEO of Car IQ, said in the release. Fluid Truck, founded in 2016, offers a wide array of trucks, vans, electric vehicles, and more through its mobile app and website, according to the release. Its platform allows businesses to flexibly and affordably build their fleet, manage employee scheduling and activate zero-emission last-mile delivery services. Companies are increasingly seeing the value inherent in signing on with logistics service providers, Eberhard told PYMNTS in an interview posted in October 2022. “These providers help businesses stay focused on what they are doing, and to be the best at what they do,” Eberhard said. Fluid Truck’s partner in this collaboration, Car IQ, was established in 2017 and developed a digital payment platform for vehicles, the release said. Car IQ Pay, powered by Visa, is currently accepted at 85% of all fuel stations nationwide. “Essentially what we’ve created is a vehicle wallet ,” Pratz told PYMNTS’ Karen Webster in an interview posted in February.
