The company is in the process of developing and marketing its hollow steel core golf ball, a version of which is currently a finalist for the prominent International Network of Golf Awards. OnCore is among three finalists in the product ingenuity/emerging companies category. The ball is currently being sold by more than 70 specialty retailers, in all 50 states and online. Among the publicly identified investors in OnCore are InVentures Group and Rand Capital Corp. The latter, a Buffalo-based venture capital firm, invested $200,000 into the company. Rand's equity in OnCore will likely be disclosed in Rand's next semi-annual financial report, which will be publicly available. InVentures, which is headquartered in the Thomas R. Beecher Jr. Innovation Center on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, has long backed OnCore. OnCore works out of the InVentures headquarters, and InVentures president Keith Blakely is the father of OnCore vice president and co-founder Bret Blakely . The OnCore investment is the second large venture capital round in a Buffalo company during 2014 to recently gain public exposure. NerVve Technologies, which has developed a visual search function , raised a $5 million Series A round in October to grow into new verticals. Dan Miner is Business First's enterprise reporter.
