The Innovate Indiana Fund has been established to invest in companies originating from a connection to Indiana University and to help those companies achieve commercial success. The fund helps the companies in its portfolio reach a variety of commercial goals using a wide array of tools including, infusions of capital, recruitment of management or additional expertise, market research, next-stage capital and our extensive network of experts in the public and private sector. The $10 million capitalization of the fund is allocated to two specific stage-based strategies, pre-seed, and seed stage investments, meaning, pre-company and company stage respectively.

PrecisionHawk, Inc. , a Raleigh, NC-based provider of drone technology for the enterprise, raised a $75m round of funding. The round was led by Third Point Ventures, with participation from new investors Comcast Ventures, Senator Investor Group, Constellation Technology Ventures and Syngenta Ventures, among others, and existing investors Intel Capital, Millennium Technology Value Partners, DuPont, Verizon Ventures, a subsidiary of USAA, and Indiana University’s Innovate Indiana Fund. The company, which has raised more than $100m in total funding since being founded in 2010, will use the capital to expand its team, focus on product innovation and make strategic acquisitions. Led by Michael Chasen, CEO, PrecisionHawk is a provider of drone technology for the enterprise to integrate drone data in their business insight captrue processes. The client list includes Fortune 500 companies and market leaders in 150 countries, spanning a range of industries, including agriculture, energy, insurance, government and construction.
