UKHotViews London-based startup Solidatus has secured weighty Series A funding of £14m in a round led by AlbionVC, with participation from two of Solidatus’ global enterprise clients HSBC Ventures and Citi. Solidatus operates in the data management sector of the market with a focus on data lineage and visualisation combined with meta data management (and the use of graph technology – see the TechMarketView report on graph databases here ). Data lineage is all about knowledge of the journey data has taken: where it came from, how it has been aggregated and transformed, who has used it, whether it is ‘quality’ data, and how trustworthy is it. As organisations look for the best ways to extract value from data, data lineage is rising up the agenda. And as more end users manipulate data as part of their day to day tasks, they need tools that help them build trust in the data being used and visualisation for accessibility. Ultimately, understanding the origins of data and how it has been transformed is a way of understanding its business value, trustworthiness, quality, and applicability to specific use cases. The proposition appeals as last year the company had its most successful year to date, more than doubling in size and quadrupling revenue. The funding will be used to accelerate global growth, including moving into the US, Europe and Asia, as well as delivering data management capabilities to new industry verticals.
