by Sujata Sangwan Leave a Reply Mumbai-based BookEventz  which was started in 2012 as UrbanRestro by Shriti Chhajed and Harsh Baid, has raised an undisclosed amount of angel funding led by Mumbai Angels and other angel investors. Singapore Angel Network and Zishaan Hayath also participated in this round. The startup aims to utilised the raised capital to bolster the technology back-end and an aggressive marketing campaign for the portal. Commenting on the development, Shriti said, “With this funding our aim is to develop a strong product enabling a seamless event booking process, making end users more comfortable doing it online than offline. Recently we have added 360 degree views of venues, reviews, detailed descriptions of approach, service, and ambiance for each of the venues. Also, we are increasing our service offerings for events such as artists, themes, caterers, decorators and more.” This is the company’s second round of funding. It is an online venue booking platform started with enabling individuals and companies to book all their F&B requirements online like restaurant reservations and party bookings. The startup has over 2000 vendors listed on its platform with in 11 cities. It claims that the website has served 2000 customers in November 2015 and over 100 bookings were made with a GMV of over Rs.1 crore. By July 2016, BookEventz aims to serve 20,000 customers monthly. “With this round of funding, our focus will be on building products to make the whole booking process seamless for the users and to expand our service offerings for them so that they can book the whole event online and not just venues,: said Harsh.
