26/01/2022 Three years after being sold by Fanisi Capital to GEMS Education, Hillcrest will soon be under new ownership, following its acquisition by the Braeburn Group of International Schools. In statement announcing the transaction, the Dubai-based education provider stated, it was “very pleased to have found a successful educational group to take over the operation of Hillcrest schools as GEMS repositions its operations in East Africa. The terms of the deal, which is subject to regulatory approvals, were not disclosed. According to reports, Fanisi initially bought Hillcrest in 2011 for approx. KES 1.8bn, bringing it out of bankruptcy, and sold it in 2019 for KES 2.6bn. The PE firm merged with Ascent Capital in 2020. TAGS
