Sensor Films raises $2.5M in venture capital Khristopher J Brooks , @AmericanGlow Published 11:01 a.m. ET March 25, 2016 | Updated 11:01 a.m. ET March 25, 2016 business in brief Sensor Films, a Rochester-based startup that uses Xerox-derived technology for laser printing on surfaces other than paper, has gathered $2.5 million in funding from Excell Partners and a Buffalo venture capital firm. Excell gave the $2 million and Buffalo Capital Partners pitched in the rest. Sensor Films makes the Starlight Digital Manufacturing Platform, which can print onto surfaces like glass and plastic. The machine price starts at $400,000. Sensor Films has already sold a few of their machines and are in talks with companies that want to buy more. The company's president Peter Hessny founded Sensor Films in 2013 with partner Brian Johnston. KJBROOKS@Gannett.com
