Doug Levine (left - new owner) and Scott Healy(sold business) Anne Archer - Journal correspondent By Anne Archer, Journal correspondent Sometimes in life you find yourself in the right place at the right time. In a joyous twist of fate, Levine, while in the Maplefields in Manchester, happened to overhear some local volunteer firefighters talking about their fellow crew member Scott Healy. According to what Levine heard, Scott and his wife Tracy were looking to sell their kitchen and bath store, Attention To Details. At the time, Levine was the owner of Harrison Kitchen Design in Westchester County. He was also a part-time Manchester resident for the past thirteen years. Enjoying his time in the area, Levine was looking for a way to live and work in Vermont full-time. After meeting with Scott, he realized purchasing Attention To Details was the opportunity that could make that possible. The Healy's started the business in 2008. They were able to grow their clientele due to Scott's ability to design efficient, eye-catching kitchens while providing excellent custom service and selling quality cabinets, counter tops, sinks, fixtures, and hardware. "You have to be a detailed person in this industry," Scott said when discussing the reason for their success in the business. Today, the store works with many respectable vendors like Plato Woodwork, a high-end custom cabinet dealer that happens to be the oldest cabinet maker company in the country, and Kraftmaid Cabinetry, a quality stock cabinet made out of Ohio. "I'm happy to have been able to sell a successful business," Scott said when reflecting on his years of hard work. While Levine, who took ownership of the business March 30, is happy to have purchased a thriving store that has, "no shortage of business." According to Levine, "Operations will continue as normal. It's a great legacy in Manchester and I want to continue it." With this in mind, Nina Sherman, who has sixteen years' experience in kitchen and bath design, will remain working at Attention To Details. Reflecting upon the changing times, Levine enthusiastically states, "Food is life. The kitchen is now the hub." He goes on to explain that mom is no longer cooking alone in the kitchen while the family is doing other things. Nowadays, everyone's in the kitchen talking and cooking and because of that, along with resale value, the kitchen is one of the most important rooms in a house. Although Levine feels like Healy has passed the baton and he is ready to run with it, Scott and Tracy have offered to stay around until the end of May to help during the transition period. Before they leave for Austin, Texas, the Healy's would like to thank the community for their support over the last ten years. They hope Manchester and the surrounding communities will continue to support Levine as he takes over the business.
