Sign Up × Former Middlesbrough favourite Dimi Konstantopoulos has landed his latest coaching role this summer, having been appointed first-team and goalkeeper coach at Ayr United. The Boro promotion winner retired from playing in 2021 before taking up a coaching role Hartlepool United and then moving on to Greek side Panetolikos. But having settled with his family in the UK during his playing career, the former Greek international has returned to the UK this summer, taking up the dual role at the Scottish Championship side. Konstantopoulos, who has previously expressed his desire to one day return to Boro as a coach and held talks over a return last summer, played with Ayr boss Lee Bullen at Greek side Kalamata. Having kept in touch since then, Bullen turned to his former team-mate when Dave Timmins left to take up a role at Carlisle United. On his move to the Somerset Park outfit, the Boro fan-favourite said: "I'm really happy to join the club and looking forward to having a successful season. Through playing and coaching, I have many experiences of working in different environments and different cultures and I think that has helped my development.
