1About Chicago Growth Partners
Chicago Growth Partners (CGP), founded in 2004, is a private equity financing firm. The firm invests in growth, mature companies with a preference for companies located in the midwest US, northeast US, southeast US, west. CGP primarily engage in the following transaction types: acquisition / expansion financing, buyout (lbo, mbo, mbi) and invests between $5 and $40 million in companies. In April 2014, Chicago Growth Partners wound down after unsuccessfully being able to raise its 3rd fund because according to some partners, LPs found it too generalist. After Chicago Growth Partners' wind down, its former founders founded new firms including ParkerGale ($200M growth equity fund focused on tech enabled services) and L Squared Capital Partners focusing on emerging companies in the tech-enabled services, education and industrial tech industries. The former partners of Chicago Growth Partners will now be visible on the profiles of their new firms where appropriate and Chicago Growth Partners status has now been marked dead-inactive because they will no longer be making new investments (but may manage existing portfolio commitments).

11 L Squared Capital, a California growth investor launched by a pair of Chicago Growth Partners execs, has soared passed $1bn under management with the final close of its biggest fund yet. L Squared said the raise was largely driven by its existing LP backers, although it did welcome several new family office investors and a group of fresh institutional investor commitments. Managing partner Jeff Farrero said, “We are incredibly appreciative of the tremendous support provided to us by our existing investors during this time of uncertainty. “This allowed us to complete the fundraising quickly so that we can keep our focus on quality investing.” L Squared was launched by Chicago Growth Partners co-founder Rob Healy and principal Farrero, the latter of whom had spent 12 years at the firm. The firm says it takes a longer-term view to value creation than many venture capital firms.
