The Cambridge Satchel Company has opened a flagship store at the Market Building in London's Covent Garden, the first opening since French textile giant Chargeurs acquired the business last August, Drapers can reveal. Share Exclusive The 238 sq ft store, located at No.8, the Market Building, opened its doors yesterday (13 September) as it relocated from its current pop-up shop at the Royal Opera House. The new flagship has been signed on a five-year lease with landlord Shaftesbury Capital. Founded in 2008 by Julie Deane and her mother, Freda Thomas, the British firm designs, manufactures and distributes a range of leather bags, satchels and accessories. Matt Peters, director of property agent Nash Bond which advised Cambridge Satchel Company, said: "The Cambridge Satchel Company is a truly identifiable British label, that now has a home in an iconic British building, located in one of London’s most popular shopping destinations. The store is a perfect fit for the brand's international shopper as the firm embarks on this exciting new chapter in its history." Advertisement
