As recovery from the Covid pandemic continues, major employers such as Amazon, Boohoo, BGEN and On The Beach are among those to have announced they are looking for new hires in Liverpool, Manchester, Chester and further afield. Boohoo Boohoo has seven brands Boohoo has announced plans to create 5,000 jobs as part of a £500m investment plan in the UK to mark its 15th anniversary. The Manchester-based online fashion retailer revealed on Thursday its 2021 Economic Impact Report, which outlined the firm's almost £2bn in GVA to the UK economy since 2009. The jobs will be created over the next five years, and Boohoo said the investment will help the firm continue its "Incredible growth". LinkedIn Amazon Amazon is creating new jobs in the UK (Image: PA) Amazon has revealed plans to create another 1,250 jobs in London, Manchester, Cambridge and Edinburgh as part of a major expansion. The business will hire new staff for its offices in London and Manchester, as well as its 'tech hubs' in Cambridge and Edinburgh, and it will also be looking for staff across its UK fulfilment centres, the PA news agency reports. The move comes after US online retail giant already created 10,000 jobs so far this year. Amazon has a UK workforce totalling more than 55,000. The company said it is hiring for 2,500 jobs in the country, but, when asked, it did not know how many are new positions and how many are part of the 10,000 already announced. "The company has grown from one employee, me, to about 500 since 2004. "If we continue to grow at the rate we are at the moment and how we plan to, I can easily see us reaching a headcount of between 800 and 1,000 in that time scale." BGEN Robin Whitehead has been promoted from managing director to chief executive as Boulting rebrands to BGEN A North West-based engineering firm has announced a major rebrand fuelling plans to create 200 jobs, expand into Africa and increase turnover to £175m. Boulting has rebranded to BGEN as part of its growth proposals, and has promoted Robin Whitehead from managing director to chief executive - to oversee operations. The Warrington-headquartered multi-discipline engineering solutions firm said the plans also include the opening of a new operation in Africa as the company expands its global footprint. Lovell Homes Lovell Homes has chosen The City of Liverpool College as its training partner to upskill employees, as part of its ambition to create hundreds of skilled jobs for local people in the region. The news comes after the construction firm was awarded a contract for 100 homes to be built in the city region and spotted an opportunity to provide skills and employment for local people. Through the partnership, The City of Liverpool College has designed a bespoke training programme including pre-employment training and apprenticeship training, giving Lovell access to the best candidates. Peak Peak is headquartered in Manchester (Image: Peak) The confirmation comes after BusinessLive reported r ecently that SoftBank's Vision Fund II had agreed to acquire a stake in Peak, which counts PepsiCo and the fashion retailer PrettyLittleThing among its clients. The news also comes after Peak announced in February it was to create 130 jobs after it raised $21m through a Series B funding round led by London-based venture capital firm Oxx, with participation from MMC Ventures and Praetura Ventures and new investor Arete. At the time, the move brought Peak’s total funding raised to $43m. Peel Ports Group Inside the Peel Ports Liverpool site Peel Ports Group has welcomed four huge new cranes to the Port of Liverpool as part of the next phase of the £400m Liverpool2 project. The firm today announced four new operational cantilever rail-mounted gantry (CRMG) cranes opening up an additional 15 acres of yard capacity as part of the scheme. The next phase of work will mean the creation of over 150 new jobs for the region Zuto Car finance firm Zuto is to create 50 jobs A Manchester car finance firm is to create 100 new jobs by the end of the year as demand in the used car market soars. Zuto said the new roles will be in addition to 150 new employees it has hired since the start of 2021, with the new jobs set to be based at the firm's Manchester and Macclesfield offices. Zuto said it has also launched a sales graduate programme this year, and has recruited 35 graduates so far in 2021 with plans to hire more during the coming months. White Oak The new Chester HQ of lender White Oak An independent business lender has announced it is moving its HQ to Chester, and now plans to create 40 new jobs . White Oak is to open a 15,000sq ft office in the city centre to accommodate its continued growth both in the region and across the UK. The firm, which moved its base from Ewloe in North Wales, said the 10-year lease reaffirms its commitment to the North West as its home. These apprenticeships will provide highly skilled opportunities for young people ranging from level two through to level five, which is degree level work and beyond. Solomon Commercials said it is in a "fantastic position" to expand the workforce and the new roles will join its current 350-strong headcount. The Lancashire-based firm said the boost in job numbers has been prompted by a series of contract wins for high-profile retailers and increased demand for vehicles needed for businesses that have expanded home delivery services. Jason Dixon, group CEO of Office Tech Holdings, said a variety of roles will be needed at Globe House on Globe Lane in Dukinfield - the former Bardsley Building to meet the needs of the 700 people who work there. Mr Dixon said he is "thoroughly committed to building a stylish, modern-day environment for a flexible working community".
