Storm Insurance Group to Acquire Sheppard Insurance Service and Risk Management Ltd. March 12, 2019   by apreidinsurance DARTMOUTH, NS, MAR. 12, 2019/insPRESS/ –  Storm Insurance Holdings Inc. (“Storm Insurance”) announced today its upcoming acquisition of Sheppard Insurance Service and Risk Management Ltd. (“Sheppard Insurance”) effective May 1, 2019. Sheppard Insurance will be the latest brokerage to join the Storm Insurance Group, which includes A.P. Reid Insurance; Agile Underwriting Solutions (an insurance wholesaler), ZipSure Insurance Brokers Ltd. (ZipSure.ca is Canada’s first 100% online insurance provider), and MyGroup Auto and Home Insurance (a dedicated group insurance division for large employers, associations and alumni organizations). Founded in 1979 by Emily and Tony Sheppard, Sheppard is now led by business owners, Grant Sheppard and Scott Zurfluh, in Edmonton with a team of over 20 employees. Sheppard is one of Edmonton’s largest and mutually respected commercial insurance brokerages. Their team offers expertise and specializes in industries including Trucking, Aviation, Automotive, Manufacturing and Property Management. Sheppard Insurance has established long-term, meaningful partnerships with its clients, suppliers and employees based on respect. This year marks the brokerage’s 40th year in business. Following the May 1st close, Grant Sheppard and Scott Zurfluh will continue with Sheppard Insurance in leadership roles for Storm’s Western operation. A.P. Reid Insurance (“A.P. Reid”) will move its Edmonton team into the Sheppard Insurance office. All employees in Sheppard Insurance and A.P. This acquisition will be Storm’s second in 2019, having acquired Wardell Insurance Limited of Burlington, ON January 1, 2019. Since 2014, Storm has opened offices in Ontario and Alberta and made a number of other acquisitions in both provinces including Robert C. Davis Insurance of Waterdown, ON, and commercial and specialty insurance broker Robinson Insurance of Edmonton, AB. The latest will bring the overall Storm employee count to 90, including 10 in Ontario and 27 in Alberta.
