Alibaba, Doluvo, Holistic Labs among winners at Mihas Awards

Sep 18, 2023

FILE PHOTO: Man walks past a logo of Alibaba Group at its office building in Beijing KUALA LUMPUR: Alibaba, Doluvo Sdn Bhd and Holistics Lab Sdn Bhd were among the 13 award recipients at the 10th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas) Awards 2023. Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the winners collectively exemplified some of the most innovative and progressive elements of the global halal industry by infusing sustainability and digitalisation in their products and services. He said the awards involved a comprehensive assessment and judging process, with evaluations centring around the aspects of products, services, innovation, sustainability practices, and adaptation of digital and creative elements that collectively are able to portray exhibitors’ efforts to promote the global halal economy. “The awards serve to honour exhibitors who demonstrate outstanding achievement in the halal industry. “It also serves as a platform to motivate other exhibitors to push for greater innovation including investing in research and development of new technologies to develop novel and cutting edge products and services,” he said during the awards presentation ceremony here recently. The awards are divided into two key categories, namely, the Mihas Excellence Awards and Mihas Innovative Awards, which received close to 80 entries from the products and services sectors. Apart from local entries, the judges also received entries from international exhibitors from countries such as Brazil, China, Thailand, South Korea and Indonesia. The Mihas Excellence Awards were divided into three categories, which are the Products Excellence Awards, Services Excellence Awards, and Malaysia Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Excellence Awards, to ensure greater participation of local MSMEs. The Products Excellence Awards were conferred on EB Frozen Food Sdn Bhd, Mamee-Double Decker Sdn Bhd and Tramontina (Brazil). The Services Excellence Awards were bagged by CIMB Islamic Bank, Quanterm Logistics Sdn Bhd and AliBaba (China). The winners of the Malaysia MSME Excellence Awards included Bubbles O2 Sdn Bhd, TCT Neutraceuticals Sdn Bhd and Koon Brother Sdn Bhd. Meanwhile, the Mihas Innovative Awards recognised achievements in two categories – Products and Services. The winners for the Products Category were Doluvo Sdn Bhd and Zhafou Global Sdn Bhd, while Durioo Sdn Bhd and Holistics Lab Sdn Bhd won the Services Category. Holistics Lab head of business development and revenue generation Eddie Nor said the award will help the company to achieve more exposure and also serve as a brand recognition. “Most of our clients are from the local market but with the award, we believe it will be a great stepping stone for us to go global,” he told Bernama. Meanwhile, Doluvo chief executive officer Yasmin Karim said the award proved as an official recognition that its products are indeed innovative. Doluvo is a manufacturer of shelf-stable/ambient ice lollies such as Pops Malaya ice bars. “This recognition inspires the entire team to further grow Pops Malaya and come out with more products beyond ice cream,” she said. In addition, Delima Emas Sdn Bhd won the Special Recognition Award for its adoption of innovative and sustainable organic ecosystems.
