Digital health insurance ID cards make information more accessible in Google Wallet Zelis , a healthcare technology company modernizing the healthcare financial experience for all, announced that its payer clients can now offer their members a way to save customizable digital health insurance ID cards to Google Wallet. This new pass type in Google Wallet helps healthcare consumers easily identify private passes and requires users to use fingerprint, PIN or other methods to add, view, and use their health insurance ID card in Google Wallet . “We’re excited to work with Google to enable our clients to provide members with a secure, modern and convenient way to access their health information and help them save on the costs to print, mail, and replace cards” This feature brings security, convenience and efficiency to the antiquated process of printing and mailing physical ID cards. In addition to streamlining the process of health ID cards for payers, it will be easier for consumers to access and share their health information when and where they need — and connect more seamlessly to personalized digital navigation tools that help them find and access the right care. Considering 42 million Americans were victims of identity fraud in 2021 and 62% of Americans have lost or had their wallet stolen, it’s a wonder we’re still carrying physical wallets containing our debit, social security and health insurance cards. Digital health ID cards make it easier and more secure for consumers to have their health information with them. “We’re excited to work with Google to enable our clients to provide members with a secure, modern and convenient way to access their health information and help them save on the costs to print, mail, and replace cards,” said Yusuf Qasim , President of Payments Optimization at Zelis. “This collaboration exemplifies our mission to modernize the healthcare financial experience for payers, providers and healthcare consumers.” The healthcare industry is often seen as lagging other industries in terms of innovation. However, this effort is an example of how the industry is moving towards modernization. The technology that Google has developed simplifies a common consumer experience, just as airlines’ e-tickets have done.
